Seether returns with another workaday outing that rocks like late 2001. Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces is virtually interchangeable with any previous Seether disc, as well as pretty much anything by the likes of Nickelback, Shinedown, and other "post-grunge" rock bands. True, "Fake It" has zeal, and "Rise Above This" may very well provide the soundtrack to late-night, soul-searching sessions for teenagers from Cape Cod to Cape Town. Shaun Morgan?s often unnecessarily profane lyrics are another problem. Witness the gauche "FMLYHM," which borrows from lyrical ideas that sounded novel when Trent Reznor sang them in "Closer" more than a decade ago but now just sound juvenile and unnecessarily angry. Same goes for the numbing epic "No Jesus Christ" and the closer, "Waste." Throughout, the band shows a lack of imagination that may ultimately prove fatal. In all, this is cookie-cutter rock that really doesn?t. --Jedd Beaudoin

4 out of 5 stars Hard Rock For The Masses   July 11, 2008
This review is going to be short and simple. Do you like Seether? Do you like any of the other albums? Yes? Then you'll love this one. Their Hard songs are Harder. Their soft songs are Softer, all coated in sugary pop bliss. They're still not sellouts, however. Shaun did with this album exactly what he set out in doing. He wanted a hard rock album, that everyone who loves Metal, Rock, Hard Rock and the likes, would love. He wanted an album for those people stuck listening to the shiznit on the radio could hear, like, and then start listening to other hard rock bands. he wanted a good solid album that wasnt just headbanging. Wasnt just soft acoustic whining. He did EVERYTHING. And he did a good job of it. Classics are all here waiting for you to love and sing for the upcoming years.

5 out of 5 stars FMLYHM is the best   June 7, 2008
I love this CD, Like a Suicide and FMLYHM are the best tracks. Seether really is a great band and very good at making a CD you want to listen to all the time.
